FLOCARE
""

We have worked with Danone (Nutricia) on a range of projects, but on this occasion they needed a solution to train health care professionals on their new FloCare Infinity enteral feeding pump. Historically all training was done face-to-face but they were looking for a more efficient way of delivering to hospitals all over the country.

We reviewed the existing face-to-face training materials and borrowed a pump to establish the viability of creating a remote solution. We realised we could create a simulation using a series of still photographs with digital enhancements. We set the device up in our studio with a digital camera in a static position to ensure the images were consistent. The simulations were supplemented with supporting information and pre-recorded video demonstrations.

The audience for this course was busy healthcare professionals, so we prioritised demonstrating clear links between the content and their everyday practice. We included hotspot interactions that required learners to navigate the pump; this allowed them to get familiar with the different buttons and settings in a controlled environment. We also worked with the subject matter expert to develop activities that helped the learner go step-by-step to troubleshoot common alarms and error messages.

As many hospitals don’t have the ability to access external sites, we provided different versions of the courses (SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 and HTML) to be loaded to internal systems.

The course has been used in hospitals across the country and has saved the client time and money by switching from face-to-face training to digital learning.
