We have been working in partnership with Help for Heroes to create a suite of online self-help courses on topics such as wellness, financial planning, nutrition and sleep. The courses are aimed at veterans and their families to access anywhere, at any time and on any device. Despite utilising one of our budget options, it is incredibly important to Help for Heroes that their courses are both visually and technically interesting. Each one needs to be interactive yet simple enough to navigate that it is accessible to its varied audience.
To date, we have developed more than 10 courses for Help for Heroes using Articulate Storyline. For each course, Help for Heroes make the most of their budget by utilising their in-house experts to complete the majority of their content design, following our guidance and templates. This means providing us with a clearly structured and complete document for each course which contains a range of information, case studies, examples and scenarios.
We carry out basic proofing and copyediting where required, and then design and build a mixture of custom and templated interactions to engage their users. We often also create simple supplementary resources using the Adobe suite including journals, booklets and handouts.
Those with lived experience have the opportunity to review each course during its development and we have received very positive feedback. The courses are hosted on the Help for Heroes website with open access for anyone seeking support, and we are thrilled that we can play a small part in that provision. We have built an extremely positive relationship with the team at Help for Heroes who are very complimentary towards the service they receive from us, in particular regarding our flexibility and approachability. Due to this, they plan to continue working with us on the development of future self-help guides.
